- Mark Wahlberg will star in director M. Night Shyamalan’s new disaster thriller The Happening, due to start shooting in the latter’s hometown of
Philadelphia. Friday, June 13, 2008 is the release date set by the studio, 20th Century Fox - Helen Mirren will join Nicolas Cage in National Treasure: Book of Secrets. The sequel to National Treasure finds Mirren as Cage’s mom. Ed Harris has already joined the cast.
- Adam Sandler will start shooting You Don’t Mess with the Zohan with his Happy Gilmore and Big Daddy director Dennis Dugan. Sandler will play an Israeli agent who fakes his death and comes to
New York to be a hairstylist. This is Shampoo for the post 9-11 age. The picture is set to be a summer 2008 tentpole release. - Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is about to enlist in The Night Watchman for director David Ayer. Keanu Reeves is already cast as an LAPD cop who goes against his mentor. The picture is based on a James Ellroy story.
- Screenwriter David Koepp will direct Greg Kinnear and Ricky Gervais in Ghost Town, based on a $2-million pitch by Koepp and John Kamps. Koepp will also direct.
