TV: Networks struggling for viewers

The five main television networks -- ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW -- have had a really bad 2008. They better start brushing up on their New Year's resolutions.

A crumbling economy. Massive revenue cuts. Layoffs. A debilitating writers strike. A looming actors strike. And not least of all -- atrocious television shows that aren't worth the cocktail napkins their ideas were written on.

And now comes word that viewers are leaving them in droves.

A Turner Network researcher announced last week that only eight of the last 66 returning shows gained viewers this season.
