Onetime hopefuls, now big names, return to Cannes

There's going to be homecoming on the Riviera.

The Cannes International Film Festival, the world's biggest annual movie showcase, is bringing back some of its favorite sons and daughters for the 62nd gathering, which runs Wednesday through May 24. It features new films from directors Ang Lee, Quentin Tarantino, Jane Campion and Pedro Almodovar.

Those eventual Oscar-winning storytellers helped forge their reputations with acclaim from the notoriously hard-to-please audiences at Cannes, and each has either been away from the screen for several years or is coming back after a disappointment. And they're all in competition against one another.
