No-Excuse Moviemaking—on a Cell Phone

Most filmmakers make far more excuses than films. Four common but lame excuses can idle whiny filmmakers almost indefinitely:

"I don't have time!"
"I don't have a crew!"
"I don't have a camera!"
"I don't have editing software"

Oh, please! I'm so tired of hearing would-be Spielbergs make excuses for the brilliant films they don't make that I entered the 2009 Las Vegas 48 Hour Film Project fully committed to making a movie completely alone using a borrowed cell phone and free editing software—in a single weekend. I even used a borrowed laptop, which meant that I acquired everything essential to making the film at no cost. Zero, zip, nada. That's a budget any filmmaker can afford.
