New film production studio planned in Connecticut

A building that houses light manufacturing and warehouse space is expected to be soon bustling with film crews after its purchase by the Connecticut Film Center.

Headquartered in Stamford and with facilities in Norwalk, the center plans to house its production and soundstage facilities in the 155,000-square-foot building at 300 Stillwater Ave., which it purchased from Spinnaker Real Estate Partners and a Steven Wise Associates affiliate.

Located on 7 acres, the facility will be the centerpiece of a $20 million expansion of the center's Stamford facilities, according to Kevin Segalla, president of the film center, who credited the state's 3-year-old tax incentive program as an impetus for the purchase and a force driving Connecticut's burgeoning entertainment industry.
