New ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Set Visit

Elm Street...a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there! Early last year, IESB visited the set of the new A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. There I was, sitting on a 737 on my way to Chicago, no, not on one of them there fancy aeroplanes, this one had no internet, no video screens and no snack boxes, pretty much the stone age of avionics.

But, I was focused on my destination rather than wallowing in my current packed flight misfortune. My destination? Chicago. Chi-town. The good ol' home of the Cubs and currently home to one of the most recognizable movie villains of the horror genre, Freddy Krueger.

The production set up shop here back in early June of 2009 to shoot a remake of the film that started it all (including Johnny Depp's career) back in 1984. There are no hockey masks, no Captain Kirk Halloween get ups just a striped shirt, a very sharp custom glove and an actor named Jackie Earle Haley.

You may remember him from that small indie film WATCHMEN in which he played Rorschach, the man that hunted down child-killing perverts. Now he's taking a turn as one of the most famous perverts and cinema serial killers of all time as Freddy Krueger.
