INTERVIEW: Director Kimberly Peirce on her Iraq movie “Stop-Loss’

Stop-Loss hit theaters this past weekend and IESB had the chance to talk with Kimberly Peirce about the film and the real-life stories behind it.
Before beginning work on Stop Loss directly, Peirce toured the country and interviewed American soldiers and their families. Some of their stories are featured on www.stoplossmovie.com/soundoff, an interactive website that allows military families to join in on the discussion and share their end of the story.
In the film, Peirce balances factual accounts with fictionalized characters, attempting a truth that goes beyond specific accounts.

I saw this movie Thursday night with my wife and we really liked it. There were only two other parties with us in the movie, a group of young guys and a group of young nannies (from Germany I think). So unfortunately I don’t think as many are seeing it as I would hope.
