The days and months are getting longer for unknown independent films to be get distribution on theatrical screens. With stiff competition from studio-backed Hollywood fare like the Marvel movies, even a film like Tree of Life with no less than Brad Pitt in it is struggling to command some kind of presence in the movie theaters. The movie opened in only 4 theaters, although it will go wide in July. So what's the lesson here for indie moviemakers and the prospect for their little known films?
