Movie thriller marks 100th major film shot in New Mexico

A dramatic thriller that began production Sunday in Santa Fe marks the 100th major film to be shot in New Mexico during Gov. Bill Richardson’s administration.
“Run for her Life,” is the fourth feature film for production company 26 Films, whose credits include “The Wedding Date,” “Starter for 10″ and “My Life in Ruins.”
The latest film is a thriller about Paul Stanton played by Dermot Mulroney, a district attorney who becomes entrenched in danger on the path to a political office. Meanwhile, he must try to save the life of his 8-year-old daughter who needs a lung transplant.
The film co-stars Diane Kruger.
New Mexico has become a film mecca of sorts since Richardson took office in 2003 with major films, such as best-picture Oscar winner “No Country for Old Men,” being almost entirely shot in the state. He has said the industry has pumped $1.5 billion into the state’s economy over that time: about $500 million in direct spending, and twice that indirectly.
