Notes on a Scandel is by far the best written movie about sex offenders to date!!! Now I have seen The Woodsman and Hard Candy and while the scene where Kevin Bacon follows the little girl to the park and asks her to sit on his lap is good…and the first half of Hard Candy accurately depicts how a sex offender grooms a victim and how the sex offender is confronted on why he choose a minor child as a sexual object, to be able to accurately steer TWO sex offenders who happen to have a relationship between the two of them is no small feat. Now I don’t happen to agree with what sex offenders do in any way, shape or form, for all of you that still question why Mary Kay Letourneau did what she did watch Notes on a Scandel and you can see - almost first hand - how an adult woman can get herself immersed into such unforgiveable behavior.

Thanks for the recommendations, CJK - it’s a taboo and difficult subject that is very uncommercial. Maybe our hope is that these unsavory movie characters can be fully realized in independent films since the studios will keep them away at arm’s length.
