Brendan Fraser lays out the 12 steps to an action movie’s success

In his review of "Journey to the Center of the Earth," Variety critic John Anderson says the 3-D movie "fortunately has on hand Brendan Fraser -- whose mission in Hollywood seems to be to humanize the most f/x-besotted adventure."

Reading the compliment over a late breakfast at a Santa Monica deli, Fraser laughs, shakes his head and says, "Maybe. I don't know. Sometimes I feel like a carnival barker. 'Step right up. You'll be amazed.' "

In the next month, moviegoers will have a double-shot of Fraser, who graduated from Seattle's Cornish College of the Arts in 1990 and interned at Intiman Theatre before becoming a movie star.
