Alan Ball bites into Southern gothic vampires for HBO

Since disbanding Six Feet Under, it was just a matter of time before Alan Ball appeared with his next show. He’s coming out of the woodwork with a new television show for HBO called True Blood which is based on the “Southern Vampire” book series by Charlaine Harris. The tone might not be far off from Six Feet Under in this story about vampires in a small Louisiana town. It’s about Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin), a waitress who reads minds, and who falls in love with a vampire (recently cast Stephen Moyer). Expect Ball to focus on character development and life in a small town where vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings just fill the background. Harris has mentioned on her website that the show is set to start shooting on June 1 . We expect the show to premiere on HBO by fall or spring of next year.
