Josh Brolin may finally be able to give up his day job trading stocks

Last year Josh Brolin was the archetypal failed actor. More than two decades in the business had left him without a single role that had made a real mark. Pushing 40, he had been forced to sell his ranch and was making his living from day trading on the American stock exchange.
This winter, however, Brolin is red-hot, with eye-catching turns in no fewer than four movies. The first is Planet Terror, Robert Rodriguez’s half of the doomed Grindhouse double bill in which Brolin plays a manic doctor beset by zombies. The three other films are all serious awards contenders and, collectively, demonstrate yet again that it can take years to become an overnight success.
